Theo Ruers
I have been connected to the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2007. As medical director of the Center for early detection, I manage the innovation track in our diagnostic center and fieldlab.
I was head of the surgical department until 2021. My own primary clinical areas of expertise are liver and colorectal surgery. I manage several national and international research studies concerning these surgery types.
My research also looks into new image-guided treatment methods, which will help improve the quality of our surgical treatments, while reducing the risks.
I also manage the research as a Professor of Oncology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of Twente. I have been working as a surgical oncologist since 1994, and have received my training at the Hammersmith Hospital and King's College Hospital, both in London.
